Hi,

When the server turns on, it sits at "Testing Memory Please wait". I've taken out all of the ram and tried different sticks (thinking one may be bad). The other sticks that I've tested are 1GB sticks. The server itself has two CPUs. This server has been working for >6 months and I wanted to apply windows updates to it for this month.
Troubleshooting wise, this is what I've done:
I was looking around the idrac6 and I noticed that under Power Supples that the Input Wattage is at 702 with a Max Wattage of 570 (FW version is 00.01.31 btw).. so do I need to get another 570 power supply for my 2nd slot or should I get a single power supply... Not sure what would cause the power to spike like this.
Under Power Monitoring:
I've tried everything I can think of to get this to work... what else can I do?
Hello, i want to buy a R410 with a perc 6/i controler and i want to make 2 Virtual Disk, one will be a 146 Gb RAID 1 (2 x 146Gb Hdd SAS) and the second i want to be a 2Tb RAID 1 (2x2Tb Sata HDD), is that possible on the perc 6/i controller?
Hello,
where can i buy a replacement HDD for PowerEdge 2950. I need 500GB SAS HDD 7.2K RPM 3,5"

Hi,
Just wanted to know if there is a Drac 5 firmware upgrade that fixes the poodle vulnerability?
Cheers,

Hi
First of all, please bare with me (if I ask/say really stupid stuff), I just started working with all that.
Setup: R720xd (6x "Constellation ES.3 4TB" in the front, 2x "Enterprise Performance 10K HHD v7" in the back) and a PERC H710 mini
Goal: Raid 5 with the 6 "big" drives and raid 1 with the 2 "small" drives
Current State: everything boots up fine, all the drives are "detected" (= are shown during the boot process). The H710 is detected too, seems to work fine (except I can't access the greyed out "configure virtual/physical drives")
Problem: I'm not able to set up any kind of raid because there are no physical drives (ctrl+r: everything is greyed out, can't do anything). When I tried setting up a raid in the menu (sorry, don't know what it's called) it says that the hard drives need to be initialized with rom during the boot, I can't find that option for my life.
What to do?
Thanks in advance!
Ramsie
Edit:
Found this thread, unfortunately didn't help.
Answer 1: disable integrated raid controller - then the ctrl-r prompt didn't pop
Answer 2: set PERC as boot device - there is no option to do that

R510 Description: A bus fatal error was detected on a component at slot 3, what is slot 3?
The server is a 4 bay non hot swap with 3 drives in RAID5 on a PERC S300, the 4th channel has a 1TB SSD on it. I've updated the drives from 500GB to 1TB's and installed Server 2012 R2 SP2. I have had 2 of these errors in the last 2 days and need to know what to address.
I'm thinking slot 3 is the PCI express bus, maybe PCI3ASM1062 Serial ATA Controller can anyone confirm and suggest what to do?
I just ordered a new T630. It had been a while since I had to order a new server, so I fell back on my old RAID1/RAID5 plan. Despite the fact that drives have come down in price, I could not quite push my client (cost-wise) to RAID10. So now I have OS RAID1 and data RAID5 (three drives).
That is not a bad solution, but reflecting now upon the fact that I ordered drives sized that even RAID 1 would provide plenty of data storage, I wonder if I would be better off with RAID1 + host spare.
And, while I am at it, is there any such thing as three-way RAID1 to allow double-redundancy?
We have several C6105 servers and all of our Nodes are running the same LSI 9260-8i add-in RAID controller. We recently purchased another C6105 and removed the In Mezzanine slot: LSI® 2008 6Gb SAS mezzanine and replaced with the In PCIe slot: LSI 9260-8i add-in RAID controller. After making this hardware change the Node simply flashes the Hard Drives but won't power on. I have been able to duplicate this issue on a second node using and a second PCIe LSI card. Also this may be nothing, but the fans seem to be running a lot faster now as well.
Prior to the hardware swap the Nodes were configured and running ESXi 5.0 without issue.

This server has been sitting for about 8 months, and the last time I used it it was running fine. It was not connected to any power in that downtime.
It has 2x2core Xeons and 8x2GB RAM.
I decided to set it up in my rack today for a project and it would not power on at all, throwing E141C CPU Mismatch. After some troubleshooting I concluded that neither CPU would work in Socket 2, and both CPUs would work in Socket 1. Ok, I'll just run it with one CPU then...
Now it is powering up but I'm not getting any display via VGA ports and it's throwing a code for E2011 Mem Config Error. I tried all sorts of different combinations of installing those RAM modules including a single module in slot 1. If any RAM is installed in this server I get E2011, and if no RAM is installed I get the code for no RAM detected.
I moved the NVRAM jumper over, booted, shut down, moved jumper back. Same issue.
What could the problem be? I can't even get this thing to display anything I don't even know if it's posting. Worked fine last time I played with it which makes this even more frustrating.
Hi
i have delr780 server with 2 hardsisks each one "1 tera" as raid 1
i have configured form bios to use "raid only " on sata devices
i could do the raid 1 and install the os above the raid 1
but i have 2 problems :
1- sometimes i feel slow with the system and im sure its not software issue
2- now assume i have drives A & B as 1st hardisk and 2nd hardisk
now if A & B plugged ==>system works and sometimes i have slow
if i unplug hardisk A , the system works okay
if i unplug hardisk B , the system dont work and i see "fail" on the raid status
if i recover disk A & B , it works
the question is being asked here .
why if i remove one hardisk B of the raid devices the system get down ??
shoudnt it be as raid 1 and if i remove one of the hardisks , the other should be redy and up the system ???
any help ?
cheers
Not all of my servers can run OMSA. I have noticed, that the SEAGATE ST4000NM0023 drives in the OMSA servers have received the firmware update to version GS0F from this package:
SEAGATE_Constellation_ES_3_4TB_NLSAS_512N_EC_7_2K_RPM_componentid_30688-a06-1
I am missing a normal Dell Update Package with this firmware version that I could install on the machines without OMSA. The latest release of Dell Nautilus Firmware Update Utility is A13 and it contains firmware GS0D for this disk.
I unboxed the server yesterday and got the OS installed. Overnight it shut off and now I'm getting 3 error messages on the front LCD and it won't POST.

I've tried draining the power and booting with just PSU 1 or 2 but it didn't help. What are my options?
I would like to install Windows 2012 Standard and I there is no driver for the Perc S300 controller.
I read to reroute the SATA data connectors into the motherboard and bypass the S300. But the SATA data cables provided do not allow me to do that. Which Dell cables I need to purchase that will allow me to do that?
Thanks!

Whoa! I last installed Win server 2012 on a Dell PE R620 and it was very easy using the Dell tool. But now I have a new R630 and a Win server 2012 R2 ISO and I cannot find any documentation for best way to install it.
I will be setting this one up as a HyperV host and 3 or 4 VM's on it.
Can someone please point me in the right direction to install docs?
Hi
I want to add a second shared perc 8 on my vrtx.
Have I to buy only this card or others part?
Thank you in advance for your support
In the Select a Driver Package Wizard, there are several packages that I imported from the Dell Systems Management Tools and Documentation DVD ISO download that pertain to Server 2012 R2, but I have no idea which driver package to select.
I see Dell PEFC, Dell PEFM, Dell PEM, Dell PER.
I did not order this server and I am working remotely so I am not certain how I can obtain this info.
If someone can offer some guidance, I would greatly appreciate it.
Thank you
