Service Tag and other Dell details missing after BIOS update on R710
Hi all,
Have just ran the most recent SUU on a clients PE R710, which amongst other things updated the BIOS to the latest v6.4.0.
Now when running some key WMI queries via Powershell get-wmiobject the Service Tag and other Dell details are missing.
For example, running Get-wmiobject Win32_computersystem, returns
Manufacturer : DELL__
Model : PE_SC3__
running Get-wmiobject Win32_bios, returns
SMBIOSBIOSVersion :
Manufacturer :
Name : Phoenix ROM BIOS PLUS Version 1.10
SerialNumber :
Version : DELL - 1
running Get-wmiobject Win32_systemenclosure, returns
Manufacturer :
Model :
LockPresent : True
SerialNumber :
SMBIOSAssetTag :
SecurityStatus : 2
Curiously, In OMSA, under 'System Summary', the Chassis Service Tag is still showing the correct value.
I've reapplied the BIOS and it makes no difference.
any ideas on why this has happened and how i fix it?
cheers
Poweredge T320 RAM mixing questions
I have a T320 and some spare memory modules.
The T320 currently has 2 x 8GB (Samsung part no M393B1G70BH0-YK0)
This is actually confusing already since that RAM module has speed of 1600 MHz, but the idrac sais 1333 MHz, (***?) maybe anyone can clarify this? Is the idrac output wrong?
Can I, and if yes how, mix those two existing modules with:
- another 2 x 8GB (Samsung part no M393B1G70BH0-YK0)
- 2 x 4GB (Samsung part no M378B5273DH0-CH9)
- 2 x 32GB (DELL part no SNPM9FKFC/32G)
How is mixing memory in the poweredges in general?
Thanks for any help!
Dell idrac openssl MITM vulnerability
Hi
We use nessus to scan our network. My most recent scan reports several openssl vulnerabilitis with a cvss score of 9.3, (rated HIGH), see below for details. The products found affected are:
Dell idrac6 1.97
Dell idrac7 1.57.57
Nessus says that the vulnerabilty is confirmed, and the openssl version could also be vulnerable to other openssl issues release on the same day as the OpenSSL 'ChangeCipherSpec' MiTM Vulnerability" released on the 5th of june.
Is this confirmed by dell? will patches be released for this vulnerabilties?

PERC H700 SSD Compatibility
Is there a compatibility matrix anywhere for the H700? I need to find Dell certified SSDs with a capacity greater than or equal to 480GB.
-Ultimately we just need SSDs that will retain a RAID10 configuration, I know some enterprise class non-Dell drives will work as well.
Any information is much appreciated.
Thank you.
Update Failure Process Secure Update Failed - OS Driver Pack / Drivers for OS deployment version stuck at 0 now
I have been updating a set of R520 servers and one it stuck where the OS Driver Pack / Drivers for OS Deployment are stuck at ZERO.
When updating on Linux no matter what flags are used the update gives the error:
Update Failure: Process Secure Update Failed
When trying both:
-bash-4.1# ./R520_Drivers-for-OS-Deployment_Application_6MNTV_LN_14.11.02_A00.BIN -n -f -q
and
-bash-4.1# ./R520_Drivers-for-OS-Deployment_Application_FXMYH_LN_15.02.12_A00.BIN -n -f -q
The error persists. (the -n -f switches didnt help, just tried with and without them).
What I did next was to go into the lifecycle controller on my R520 and have the Lifecycle controller download and install the OS driver firmware which was listed as version "0".
This ended up working (temporarily) and took about 5 minutes once the update started.
Then it showed the correct version (15.02.12) as "Current"
However, upon a cold restart, it fell back to version 0 and was back to being broken.
This is should be addressed by Dell ASAP. I've tried all the usual tricks to get the OS driver pack firmware reinstalled and its stuck.
This problem started while running all the updates for the R520 on this ISO:
dell.app.box.com/BootableR520/1/4114974887
Seems like 15.02.12 is a bad update and bonks the OS drivers.
Others have been having trouble with M6xx servers and R7xx servers in another thread which is not being addressed.
All other firmwares on this R520 are current and seemingly working properly.
Will update post/thread with firmware manifest.
Any help getting this firmware issue straightened out is greatly appreciated.

PowerEdge 610 no POST, no video, no boot. DRAC only
Hi, I have a T610 shows no video when powering up. I don't think it's even hitting POST. The server was working fine/without error, was virtualized several months ago and powered off. This is the first time powering it up since then. The fans come on normally and everything looks and sounds normal, but there is no video/POST.
When powered on the fans come on normally; drives 0 and 1 blink together; then 2 and 3; then they all go in sync (I believe they are configured in two RAID1 arrays but it might be a RAID5, I honestly don't remember)
I can connect to the DRAC Enterprise and view info from there - logs are pasted at the end.
Various messages show on the LCD, depending on what troubleshooting steps I take. Originally it showed a CPU1 Status: Processor sensor for CPU1, IERR was asserted which led me down the path of swapping CPUs. As it stands now, with one CPU,it just shows the system name and service tag as if all were working normally.
Steps I have taken to attempt to boot:
Remove all drives
Boot w various PSUs removed/swapped (2 PSUs in system)
Removed PCI NIC card
Removed CPU1 and replaced w CPU2
Swapped CPUs 1 & 2
Removed RAM for CPU2 when running only CPU1
Removed backplane cable
At a loss here, any help greatly appreciated.

Poweredge t410 win 7 conversion - video card upgrade not working
I am running my t410 as a desktop and for live video recording (fastest pc I've ever had). some video editing software won't run due to the *** integrated card. I bought this for slot 5 (Dell ATI Fire GL V3100 128MB DVI VGA PCI-E Video Card) and it fits but when I boot up it says "slot 5 PCIe error "system halted". I am not a geek so forgive me if it's something obvious. The card was used but "tested". Lost!

Any suggestions on the matter??

Sudden Noisy Fans
Hello all,
I have a DELL PowerEdge 6850 Server. Suddenly this morning my fans went on full speed without any reason (No heat problems, server room is well conditioned).
The server is running normally, only the fans are at full speed and noisy. Updated my BIOS but this didn't solve the problem.
Please advice a.s.a.p
Server will not recognize hard drives
After a hard reboot, server tag# {{Removed by Moderator}}, will not recognize any hard drives, only options available in bios settings are for optical drive or NIC card, no recognition of raid system or hard drives, please help
Special Characters and multiple OUs in CSR
PowerEdge 720Firmware: 1.57.57
iDRAC7
I am attempting to generate a CSR via the web console and am getting a blank CSR in return. Some posts have shown that special characters in the CSR fields are what result in the blank CSR. Is there any way around this?
Also, is there any way to add multiple OUs to a CSR?
Thank you.

PowerEdge 1950, Voltage 1.8V PG, State Asserted
Hello.
I have a problem with one of Dell PowerEdge 1950.
It reboots every ~30 minutes now.

Can this problem be resolved by replacing power supply or this is 100% motherboard problem?
Connecting power for GPU in T630
I have a T630 that I need to connect a Grid K1. The requirement for this came after the server was already delivered, so my sales rep also ordered a power kit to go with the GPU. The kit consists of a cable that has a 6-pin molex at one end and connectors for the GPU at the other. There was also a card included that needs to get power from what looks like a 40-pin connector and that supplies power to the GPU. Question is, what do I plug into the card? Do I need to remove the mobo to get to the PSU?
