E1810 Error On Drive 0 Poweredge 2950, drive replaced

$

I was getting an E1810 error on a PowerEdge 2950.  I have 4 drives and two virtual disks.  Disk 0 and 1 and RAID-1 for Virtual Disk 0, Disk 2 and 3 or RAID-1 for Virtual Disk 1.

I saw a flashing amber light on Drive 0 and in Server Manager it had an error.  I got a new drive (same specs as the failed one), pulled out Drive 0 and put this new hard drive in it's place.  Typically I am used to the hard drive automatically rebuilding, but it didn't.  In server manager, I saw an option to set the drive as a Global Hot Spare.  After I did that I saw that it was rebuilding.  Eventually the drive changed to Online.  However, I still have an amber light on Disk 0 with the same error.

I have some strange things going on in Server Manager as well.  I'm running version 6.5 as higher versions won't show me the Storage information.

If I to go to System/Storage/PERC 6i Integrated/Connector 0/Enclosure (Backplane)/Physical Disks, it shows me Physical Disk 0:0:1, 0:0:2, 0:0:3.

If I to go to System/Storage/PERC 6i Integrated/Connector 0/Physical Disks, it shows me Physical Disk 0:33.

System/Storage/PERC 6i Integrated/Virtual Disks/Virtual Disk 0 shows Physical Disk 0:0:1 and 0:33 both as Online

System/Storage/PERC 6i Integrated/Virtual Disks/Virtual Disk 1 shows Physical Disk 0:0:2 and 0:0:3 both as Online

Why is the new drive I put in showing as 0:33 and not 0:0:0?  Why is it not listed as part of the Backplane (Enclosure)?  Why do I still have a flashing amber light?

We just had a service call on a Dell Poweredge R720 to replace a power supply that became unusable after doing a Lifecycle Firmware Controller firmware update that went bad when updating the power slot firmware.

Once the new power supply was installed, the error indicator on the console went from orange to blue and the server is operating properly.  No errors show in OMSA.

However, I use the Open_Manager plugin for Nagios/Icinga to monitor my Dell servers, and it is showing an error on the R720:

"Battery Probe 0 (System board CMOS battery) is Unknown reading"

Is there any way I can clear this error (especially without having another service call)?

Thanks for any suggestions.

No power on m1000e

I installed a m1000e into a rack and plugged in all of the PSUs to the PDU. The AC lights are on but the DC lights on the PSU are not. Nothing comes on but there is a "no CMC found" error on the LCD front panel. There are also no lights on for the CMCs,fans, or switches.

Does the CMC control whether or not the DC out is on for the PSUs? All 6 of my PSUs have only 1 green light(AC).

I'm not sure what is wrong or bad.

Yes or No: Will a Xeon Phi 31S1p work in a Dell Power Edge 710..?

I won a university prize for a neural network (and some OpenMP and MPI coursework) on a HPC system.

The prize is a Xeon Phi 31S1p passively cooled 59 processor card.

I saw a Dell Power Edge for sale ( Dell PowerEdge R710 Server 2 x X5550 2.67Ghz QC / 32GB /Perc 6 / 2 x PSU 870W ).

Just to confirm if this server supports

** An X16/X16 PCIe slot
** a motherboard with 64-bit BAR support.
** 2 x 870W PSU should be enough(?)
** Very good airflow as "this is a passive card that will idle around 70W and hit close to 300W under load. If you don’t have air moving through it you will see it’s magic smoke escape"

In short,

Will a Xeon Phi 31S1p work in a Dell Power Edge 710..?

Thanks.

I have a Dell R610 with RAID Perc H700

I have 4 SSD drives, I only want 2 x 128GB RAID 0, the other 2 physical. I'm in the raid config, but cannot figure out how to make the 2 x 512GB visible, They only show as "ready". I installed Windows 2008, only the virtual 2x128 (as one) showed up.

PERC H700 SSD Compatibility

Is there a compatibility matrix anywhere for the H700? I need to find Dell certified SSDs with a capacity greater than or equal to 480GB.

-Ultimately we just need SSDs that will retain a RAID10 configuration, I know some enterprise class non-Dell drives will work as well.

Any information is much appreciated.

Thank you.

Poweredge R310 and Windows Server 2012 R2

Hello, I'm having some BSOD trouble installing windows server 2012 R2 on a dell poweredge that happens to have the H200 PERC raid on it. It's on 8GB RAM and the BIOS was flashed to the latest version 1.12 I believe. I was able to get to the desktop a couple times but it seems after a restart I get blue screens. My Poweredge is from 2011 I think and it originally came with 2008 Server OS.

The few times I was able to go into the desktop and see the event viewer I saw a couple errors including

DCOM got error "1084" attempting to start the service ShellHWDetection with arguments "Unavailable" in order to run the server:

Any help is much appreciated!!! I thought r310 was compatible with 2012 since it is included in the specs support page.

T310 - bmcfwuw.exe has stopped working

$

Hi Folks

I am hoping someone can assist with this one. My T310 fans are very loud noticed that others mentioned that firmware updates and bios resolve this. I have updates Bios and other firmware using the latest SUU.

However, I cannot get the iDRAC to take the 1.98AA update. I have tried both via the SUU and just the firmware update on its own. Every time I get the message "bmcfwuw.exe has stopped working"

Running Windows Server 2012 R2.

Hope someone can help with this as becoming very frustrating?

VRTX 1600 watt PSU voltage

This may be a silly question and maybe this isn't the best place to ask this, but I really don't feel like calling in to Dell right now. I just want to confirm if the 1600w power supplies on the Dell PE VRTX are 110/220 v switchable like the 1100w's are. That's a simple question but I can't find the answer in writing anywhere I've looked.

Thanks.

Dell idrac openssl MITM vulnerability

Hi

We use nessus to scan our network. My most recent scan reports several openssl vulnerabilitis with a cvss score of 9.3, (rated HIGH), see below for details. The products found affected are:

Dell idrac6 1.97

Dell idrac7 1.57.57

Nessus says that the vulnerabilty is confirmed, and the openssl version could also be vulnerable to other openssl issues release on the same day as the OpenSSL 'ChangeCipherSpec' MiTM Vulnerability" released on the 5th of june.

Is this confirmed by dell? will patches be released for this vulnerabilties?

Dell Poweredge R515 new CPUs not supported

I have a Dell Poweredge R515 that I'm trying to upgrade from a single Opteron 4130 to a pair of Opteron 4376 HE CPUs.

As per the picture here:

From this page: www.dell.com/.../EN

the Opteron 4376 HEs that I have are supported.  However, installing them and trying to boot gives the following error:

"Error: Unsupported CPU and motherboard combination.  Please install AMD OPTERON 4100 series CPU".

I've already updated to the latest BIOS (2.3.0)--what else can I do to fix this?
