My Dell PowerEdge <ADMIN NOTE: Service tag removed per privacy policy> rolled back the drivers for USB and I can't use my USB Ports anymore (This includes both USB Keyboard and Mouse).  I have downloaded the latest Intel Chipset Driver but it throws me an error "File Copying was not successful. Setup will exit." Anyone with an idea how to go about this? Thank you in advance.

PE R710 memory upgrade, configuration question.

Hello team,

We currently have 18x8 gb memory in our server.

We have decided that we will upgrade the server with more memory. We are thinking about this scenario:

  • leave 12 x 8gb
  • add 6 x 16 gb

This should give us 192 gb of memory.

Will this memory configuration work?

Thank you all, kind regards.

Dell Power Edge T110 and T110 II Chassis Compatibility

What are the differences between the T110 and T110II chassis, or they are the same?
We had a small disaster and chassis of T110II was destroyed.
Could we install T110II motherboard to T110 chassis, the front panel is compatible (where Leds and USB)? And etc?
(The T110II MB, HDD's and PSU is fine.)

Dell T110 II does not power on

$

I have a Dell T110 II server that was working, but it no longer powers up since it was moved.  When it is plugged in, it tries to start up for a second, then shuts down for a second or two, then tries to start again.  When it is briefly on, the power button is green, and the diagnostic lights 1 3 4 are on, although I suspect this isn't a diagnostic code but the last part of the power up sequence it gets to before shutting down.  The LEDs on the motherboard and power supply are green (when it is on).

I have tried going to the minimum POST configuration (only a CPU, motherboard, PCI riser, 1 DIMM, Power Supply, and the front panel connected), and it still wont start.  I disconnected the ribbon cable to the front panel, and the power supply and fan still turn on and off every few seconds.  I tried swapping out the power supply, DIMM, and riser with ones from another good T110, all with the same result.

Any ideas about what to do next?

Modify VDisk ID

Hello all,

I need to modify the ID of an existing VDisk, from ID=2 to ID=1. I've no problems about business continuity so if needed I can turn off the server and leave it offline for nearly a week.
Even if I have a backup copy of the VDisk content, I would like to modify the ID without loosing data on the existing VDisk.
My controller is PERC H710.

I've some questions:
a) Is there a way to solve the problem of modifying the vdisk id by using the OMSA CLI (omconfig)?
b) if not, could I change it using the BIOS utility?
c) if it does not exist an option to modify the ID, is it possible to phisically remove the disks that compose the vdisk, clear the controller configuration related to that vdisk and then re-import the array as foreign, assigning it the different ID

Thank you in advance for support

T310 and ESXi on a PERC S3000

Hello,

So I am finding mixed responses. It appears that ESXi doesn't support the T310 when a PERC S3000 is installed, yet the dell site lists it as compatible.

So........

Does it work or does it not?

If it does can someone point me to the installer?

Thank you,

Poweredge R710 turned off but all status LED lights in backplane are lit.

I was hoping to maybe find some answers here but my poweredge R710 has just recently or at least I just noticed that the status lights in the drive's back plane are all lit.  This is the 8 - 2.5 drives chassis.  Is this normal?  What I've done so far is to unplug the power from the PSU for at least 10 hours.  When I checked back again all the lights were still turned on in the back plane.

DELL R910 - E1234 Memory Riser G Power Failure

$

Hi,

We have a DELL R910 server (Service Tag:<ADMIN NOTE: Service tag removed per privacy policy>) and have read some articles here about the problem "E1234 Memory Riser Power Failure" .  We have done some of the suggested troubleshooting.  On our system, here's what we've done so far:

1.  Reseat the Memory Riser G and its DIMMs.  Same problem encountered.

2,  Cleaned the Slot and contacts of the riser for any dusts or dirt.  Same problem encountered.

3.  Swapped Memory Riser from  C with that of from G slot.  Same problem encountered (the problem is still on Memory Riser G slot)

4.  Removed the Memory Riser from slot G so there's no Memory Riser installed on slot G.  Same problem encountered (the problem is still on Memory Riser G slot)

So it seems that slot G on the System board unit have a problem.  I haven't replaced the system board unit yet (will be waiting for replacement).  Is there any other way to make this server boot up as we need this one badly.  Can we just disable slot G and place the Memory Riser on the other slot allocated to that CPU? (Note: we have 4 CPUs, so we have 2 slots of Memory Risers per CPU)

Paolo

iDRAC6 SSL certificate upload failing

$

Hello,

On a Poweredge R610 with iDRAC6 v. 1.97 (Build 02), I export the CSR via the webgui :

myServer.csr

Then on the server that manages our own CA, using easy-rsa, I have copied this csr into the easy-rsa/keys directory, then ran :

./sign-req myServer

and it is generating :

myServer.crt

that I tried to upload via the webgui SSL tab.

It is failing with the error :

"Certificate upload failed."

I then tried to upload this same file via the racadm command line :

PS C:\temp> racadm -r myServer -u root -p xxxxx sslcertupload -t 1 -f myServer.crt
Security Alert: Certificate is invalid - Certificate is not signed by Trusted Third Party
Continuing execution. Use -S option for racadm to stop execution on certificate-related errors.
ERROR: Unable to perform requested operation.

When I'm trying to use "-t 2", it seems to work with no error, but does not seem to do anything more (when viewing the cert. after a racadm racreset, it is still showing Dell's default cert.)

Questions :

  • Why is the upload failing through webgui ? is there a simple filename extension check ?
  • According to what I read, I should use -t 1, but this one is failing. What should I use ?
  • In my browser, I've added our company CA. May someone confirm that what I'm trying to achieve is possible ? (use our own CA and our own self-signed certificate)

PowerEdge T105 -- failed bench build

$

We're a nonprofit with very limited budget and we have a working PowerEdge T105 server. We'd like to protect it by acquiring a full set of spare parts. I bought a motherboard (0D682C), an AMD Opteron 1352 processor, a heatsink assembly (GP172), a processor fan (WP747), a front I/O control panel (GP461) and a power supply (L305P-01 NH493). I borrowed RAM from our working server. I connected a floppy drive, a SATA hard drive, a keyboard, a mouse, and a VGA screen (all known good parts), and put it together on the bench without a case.

It turns on but won't boot up. That is, the power light turns green (but the four front panel lights in the GP461 I/O panel never turn on and off), the processor fan spins, the hard disk powers on and nothing else happens. I ordered another processor but it didn't help.

Our production server has a motherboard part number of 0P957K, which is different from the 0D682C that I purchased. Could this be the problem? (The Opteron fits correctly into the 0D682C.)

The memory is known good and I've tried another power supply to no avail. The floppy is never accessed. There is never any display on the VGA screen.

Before I purchase another motherboard, is there anything else to try? Could the PowerEdge require its case to start up correctly?

Any suggestions would be very much appreciated!

PowerEdge 2900 9th Gen. Power Failure Error 1215 1.8V Pwr Gd

I have recently power down the server after many years of continuous service.

When I tried to power it up again I get a "Fail Safe" E1000 message with the following Error message

E1215 !.8V Pwr Gd.

Could this be associated with an on-board battery issue or a power component failure??

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
